The power of dreams
It is 2013 when Vanni Oddera is called to a hospital because a little patient in the oncology ward wants to meet him. From that day on, Vanni realises that more can be done and starts thinking about how to combine his passion for motorbikes with his commitment to less fortunate children.
The scepticism surrounding him is great. But in the end, Vanni succeeds in his intention: to enter the ward with an electric motorbike.
The patients and families are simply delighted with the day. Some videos go around the world and other hospitals contact him.
Thus was born the Freestyle hospital, which in six years has brought motorbikes to all the hospitals in Italy.
Happiness is good for you
One of the hospitals involved in the initiative decides to initiate a scientific study on the benefit of motorbike therapy on the ward, with appointments every two weeks.
The results are incredible and are published in the European Journal of Integrative Medicine. This prompted a London hospital to invite Vanni Oddera to experience the benefits of motor therapy in their cancer ward as well.
Today, there are many facilities that have adopted motor therapy in their wards as a regular appointment (Gaslini Hospital in Genoa, Regina Margherita in Turin, Papa Giovanni XXIII in Bergamo, the Tumour Institute in Milan to name but a few).
